OBSTETRICAL CARE

REGULAR PRENATAL VISITS WITH YOUR OB/GYN ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR MONITORING YOUR AND YOUR BABY’S HEALTH.

Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC), designated as the Regional Perinatal Center and the recipient of the prestigious Baby Friendly Award, where our patients can benefit from superior perinatal care, 24-hour anesthesia, top-level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, one of the best in NYC area, available private maternity suites, as well as highly trained lactation consultants and genetic counselors.

Please call us to schedule your first prenatal visit as soon as you get a positive pregnancy test, or think you are pregnant. We typically schedule your first visit at around 6 weeks of pregnancy (or 4 weeks after conception), unless an earlier visit is warranted due to previous history or additional risk factors.  The frequency of prenatal visits depends on how far along you are in the pregnancy and any known health conditions.

A TYPICAL SCHEDULE FOR PRENATAL CHECKUPS IS   

(may vary depending on risk factors)

 

  • Between Weeks 6-10 - every 2 weeks

  • Between Weeks 10-30 - every 4 weeks

  • Between Weeks 30-36 - every 2 weeks

  • After week 36 - every week

YOUR PRENATAL VISIT MAY INCLUDE:

  • Blood pressure and weight check

  • Urine sample

  • Medical history review

  • Screening obstetrical ultrasounds

  • Gender determination ultrasounds

  • Fetal non-stress testing / Biophysical Assessment
